Saratoga Joinery

All Saratoga Joinery members are invited to come to the shop for an expert-led presentation followed by open discussion and problem solving. Members are encouraged to bring questions and/or projects that they'd like to share or get assistance on.

• Topic: Veneering - Join Reg Lilly, one of our amazing volunteers, to learn all about veneer! Reg will talk about the nature of veneer as pieces of wood, explain the nature of flitches and the design opportunities given several near identical pieces. Topics will include:  Advantages of using veneer rather than solid hardwood;  substrates for veneering – plywood, MDF, stave core; different glues and their advantages and disadvantages;  different ways to cut veneer; sizing your work piece for veneering; different manners of pressing the veneer. The process of veneering will also be demonstrated.
