Saratoga Joinery

All Saratoga Joinery members are invited to come to the shop for an expert-led presentation followed by open discussion and problem solving. Members are encouraged to bring questions and/or projects that they'd like to share or get assistance on.

• Topic: Hand Tool Deep Dive -- Cabinet and Card Scrapers: This series is meant to give attendees a deeper understanding of how to maintain and use hand tools in the shop. Professional Historic Preservation Carpenter and Founding Saratoga Joinery Board Member Chris Bennett will take us through much of what he has learned using scrapers over his 30+ year career. He will take us from sharpening through many of the tricks of the trade he uses every day in the shop. Feel free to bring your card scraper, any sharpening tools you have, and a piece of wood stock to practice on. Chris will teach everyone how to get a sharp edge on their scraper as part of this presentation.
