About Rod: Rod Wilson was educated at the University at Albany in art and anthropology, and began a woodworking apprenticeship soon after graduation. He has had his own woodworking business for nearly 40 years and has worked with wood in many forms and applications. Rod's building experience spans furniture, cabinets and kitchens, to architectural builds, barn restoration, and house carpentry. His particular interests are in sculptural and studio furniture, often with live edge pieces and including other materials. Since childhood he has had a fascination for wood in all of its stages and forms, from seed or nut to mature tree (even rotten and decomposing!), to sawyering and milled planks, to creating a new life for wood and self. At its finest, Rod believes that working with wood is a spiritual practice. Rod is a Saratoga Joinery Safety Coordinator and you can find him in our shop every Thursday from 1pm-5pm.
